But the Babylonians chased the king and caught him on the plains of Jericho and brought him to Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, who was at Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced judgment upon him. The king of Babylon made Zedekiah watch as they killed his children and all the nobles of Judah. Then he gouged out Zedekiah’s eyes and bound him in chains to send him away to Babylon as a slave.

But the Babylonian[a] army pursued them and overtook Zedekiah(A) in the plains of Jericho. They captured(B) him and took him to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon at Riblah(C) in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced sentence on him. There at Riblah the king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes and also killed all the nobles(D) of Judah. Then he put out Zedekiah’s eyes(E) and bound him with bronze shackles to take him to Babylon.(F)
