15 The leaders were angry with Jeremiah and beat him. They put him in prison in the house of Jonathan the writer, which they had made into a prison.
16 After Jeremiah had been in an under-ground prison many days, 17 King Zedekiah sent for him and had him brought to his house. The king asked him in secret, “Is there any word from the Lord?” And Jeremiah said, “There is!” Then he said, “You will be given over to the king of Babylon!”

15 They were angry with Jeremiah and had him beaten(A) and imprisoned(B) in the house(C) of Jonathan the secretary, which they had made into a prison.
16 Jeremiah was put into a vaulted cell in a dungeon, where he remained a long time. 17 Then King Zedekiah sent(D) for him and had him brought to the palace, where he asked(E) him privately,(F) “Is there any word from the Lord?”
“Yes,” Jeremiah replied, “you will be delivered(G) into the hands of the king of Babylon.”
