7 (A)Perhaps their supplication will [a]come before Yahweh, and everyone will turn from his evil way, for (B)great is the anger and the wrath that Yahweh has spoken against this people.” 8 So Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, (C)reading from the book the words of Yahweh in the house of Yahweh.
9 Now it happened in the (D)fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the (E)ninth month, that all the people in Jerusalem and all the people who (F)came from the cities of Judah to Jerusalem called for a (G)fast before Yahweh.

7 Perhaps they will bring their petition(A) before the Lord and will each turn(B) from their wicked ways, for the anger(C) and wrath pronounced against this people by the Lord are great.”
8 Baruch son of Neriah did everything Jeremiah the prophet told him to do; at the Lord’s temple he read the words of the Lord from the scroll. 9 In the ninth month(D) of the fifth year of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, a time of fasting(E) before the Lord was proclaimed for all the people in Jerusalem and those who had come from the towns of Judah.
