14 Jonadab son of Rekab commanded his sons not to drink wine, and this command has been kept. To this day they drink no wine, for they have obeyed their ancestor’s command. But I keep speaking to you, again and again, and you have not obeyed me. 15 I have sent my servants the prophets to you again and again. They told you to turn from your evil ways, to reform your actions, and to stop following other gods in order to serve them. Then you would live on the land I have given to you and your fathers. But you have not paid attention or listened to me. 16 The sons of Jonadab son of Rekab have kept this command which their father gave them, but these people have not obeyed me.

14 ‘Jehonadab son of Rekab ordered his descendants not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather’s command.(A) But I have spoken to you again and again,(B) yet you have not obeyed(C) me. 15 Again and again I sent all my servants the prophets(D) to you. They said, “Each of you must turn(E) from your wicked ways and reform(F) your actions; do not follow other gods(G) to serve them. Then you will live in the land(H) I have given to you and your ancestors.” But you have not paid attention or listened(I) to me. 16 The descendants of Jehonadab son of Rekab have carried out the command their forefather(J) gave them, but these people have not obeyed me.’
