Jeremiah 31:34-36
New Revised Standard Version Updated Edition
34 No longer shall they teach one another or say to each other, “Know the Lord,” for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, says the Lord, for I will forgive their iniquity and remember their sin no more.(A)
35 Thus says the Lord,
who gives the sun for light by day
and the fixed order of the moon and the stars for light by night,
who stirs up the sea so that its waves roar—
the Lord of hosts is his name:(B)
36 If this fixed order were ever to cease
from my presence, says the Lord,
then also the offspring of Israel would cease
to be a nation before me forever.(C)
Jeremiah 31:34-36
New International Version
34 No longer will they teach(A) their neighbor,
or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’
because they will all know(B) me,
from the least of them to the greatest,”
declares the Lord.
“For I will forgive(C) their wickedness
and will remember their sins(D) no more.”
35 This is what the Lord says,
he who appoints(E) the sun
to shine by day,
who decrees the moon and stars
to shine by night,(F)
who stirs up the sea(G)
so that its waves roar(H)—
the Lord Almighty is his name:(I)
36 “Only if these decrees(J) vanish from my sight,”
declares the Lord,
“will Israel(K) ever cease
being a nation before me.”
