Jeremiah 31:2-4

2 Thus saith the Lord: The people that were left and escaped from the sword, found grace in the desert: Israel shall go to his rest.

3 The Lord hath appeared from afar to me. Yea I have loved thee with an everlasting love, therefore have I drawn thee, taking pity on thee.

4 And I will build thee again, and thou shalt be built, O virgin of Israel: thou shalt again be adorned with thy timbrels, and shalt go forth in the dances of them that make merry.

New International Version

2 This is what the Lord says:

“The people who survive the sword
    will find favor(A) in the wilderness;
    I will come to give rest(B) to Israel.”

3 The Lord appeared to us in the past,[a] saying:

“I have loved(C) you with an everlasting love;
    I have drawn(D) you with unfailing kindness.
4 I will build you up again,
    and you, Virgin(E) Israel, will be rebuilt.(F)
Again you will take up your timbrels(G)
    and go out to dance(H) with the joyful.(I)
