12 Jeremiah repeated all these prophecies to Zedekiah, king of Judah. “If you want to live, submit to the king of Babylon,” he said. 13 “Why do you insist on dying—you and your people? Why should you choose war and famine and disease, which the Lord has promised to every nation that will not submit to Babylon’s king? 14 Don’t listen to the false prophets who keep telling you the king of Babylon will not conquer you, for they are liars.

12 I gave the same message to Zedekiah king of Judah. I said, “Bow your neck under the yoke(A) of the king of Babylon; serve him and his people, and you will live.(B) 13 Why will you and your people die(C) by the sword, famine and plague(D) with which the Lord has threatened any nation that will not serve the king of Babylon? 14 Do not listen(E) to the words of the prophets(F) who say to you, ‘You will not serve the king of Babylon,’ for they are prophesying lies(G) to you.
