Jeremiah 25:37-38
Contemporary English Version

36-37 Listen to the cries
    of the shepherds,
as the Lord's burning anger
turns[a] peaceful meadows
    into barren deserts.
38 Like a lion leaving its den,
the Lord has abandoned
his people
    to the destruction of war.

37 The peaceful meadows will be laid waste
    because of the fierce anger of the Lord.
38 Like a lion(A) he will leave his lair,
    and their land will become desolate(B)
because of the sword[a] of the oppressor(C)
    and because of the Lord’s fierce anger.(D)
