⁷ Then afterwards,” declares Yahweh, “^(A)I will give over Zedekiah king of Judah and his servants and the people, even those who remain in this city from the pestilence, the sword, and the famine, into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and into the hand of their enemies and into the hand of those who seek their lives; and he will strike them down with the edge of the sword. He ^(B)will not show pity on them nor spare nor have compassion.”’

⁸ ‘But like the ^(A)rotten figs which cannot be eaten due to rottenness—indeed, thus says Yahweh—so I will give over ^(B)Zedekiah king of Judah and his officials and the ^(C)remnant of Jerusalem who remain in this land and the ones who inhabit the land of ^(D)Egypt.

¹² The ^(A)prince who is among them will carry his baggage on his shoulder in the dark and go out. ^[a]They will dig a hole through the wall to bring it out. He will cover his face so that he cannot see the land with his eyes. ¹³ I will also spread My ^(B)net over him, and he will be caught in My snare. And I will bring him to Babylon in the land of the Chaldeans; yet he will ^(C)not see it, though he will die there.

¹⁹ Therefore, thus says Lord Yahweh, “As I live, surely My oath which he despised and My covenant which he broke, I will ^[a]put on his head. ²⁰ I will spread My ^(A)net over him, and he will be ^(B)caught in My snare. Then I will bring him to Babylon and ^(C)enter into judgment with him there regarding the unfaithful act which he has committed against Me.
