Jeremiah and Pashhur

20 When the priest Pashhur son of Immer,^(A) the official^(B) in charge of the temple of the Lord, heard Jeremiah prophesying these things,

² he had Jeremiah the prophet beaten^(A) and put in the stocks^(B) at the Upper Gate of Benjamin^(C) at the Lord’s temple.

²⁴ When he received these orders, he put them in the inner cell and fastened their feet in the stocks.^(A)
