¹⁸ Then they said, “Come and let us ^(A)devise plans against Jeremiah. Surely the ^(B)law is not going to perish from the priest, nor ^(C)counsel to the wise man, nor the divine ^(D)word to the prophet! Come on and let us ^(E)strike at him with our tongue, and let us ^(F)give no heed to any of his words.”

^2 (A)And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man ^(B)misleading our nation and ^(C)forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is ^[a]Christ, a King.”

¹¹ Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

⁵ For we have found this man a real pest and a fellow who stirs up dissension among all the Jews throughout ^[a]the world, and a ringleader of the ^(A)sect of the Nazarenes. ⁶ And he even tried to ^(B)desecrate the temple; and ^[b]then we arrested him. ^[c][We wanted to judge him according to our own Law. ⁷ But Lysias the commander came along, and with much violence took him out of our hands, ⁸ ordering his accusers to come before you.] By examining him yourself concerning all these matters you will be able to ascertain the things of which we accuse him.” ^9 (C)And the Jews also joined in the attack, asserting that these things were so.

^13 (A)Nor are they able to prove to you of what they are now accusing me.
