Jeremiah 18:17-19

¹⁷‘Like an ^(A)east wind I will ^(B)scatter them
Before the enemy;
I will ^[a]show them ^(C)My back and not My face
^(D)In the day of their calamity.’”

¹⁸Then they said, “Come and let us ^(E)devise plans against Jeremiah. Surely the ^(F)law is not going to be lost to the priest, nor ^(G)counsel to the sage, nor the divine ^(H)word to the prophet! Come on and let us ^(I)strike at him with our tongue, and let us ^(J)give no heed to any of his words.”

¹⁹Do give heed to me, O Lord,
And listen to ^[b]what my opponents are saying!

¹⁸They said, “Come, let’s make plans^(C) against Jeremiah; for the teaching of the law by the priest^(D) will not cease, nor will counsel from the wise,^(E) nor the word from the prophets.^(F) So come, let’s attack him with our tongues^(G) and pay no attention to anything he says.”
