⁴ How long is the ^(A)land to mourn
And the ^(B)plants of every field to dry up?
Because of the ^(C)evil of those who inhabit it,
^(D)Animals and birds have been swept away,
Because men have said, “He will not see our latter ^(E)ending.”

¹⁸ How ^(A)the beasts groan!
The herds of cattle wander aimlessly
Because there is no pasture for them;
Even the flocks of sheep ^[a]suffer.
^19 (B)To You, O Yahweh, I cry;
For ^(C)fire has consumed the pastures of the wilderness,
And the flame has burned up all the trees of the field.
