18 He wanted us to be his own special people,[a] and so he sent the true message to give us new birth.

19 (A) My dear friends, you should be quick to listen and slow to speak or to get angry. 20 If you are angry, you cannot do any of the good things God wants done.

18 He chose to give us birth(A) through the word of truth,(B) that we might be a kind of firstfruits(C) of all he created.

19 My dear brothers and sisters,(D) take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak(E) and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger(F) does not produce the righteousness that God desires.
