²⁵ So he poured out on them his burning anger,^(A)
    the violence of war.
It enveloped them in flames,^(B) yet they did not understand;^(C)
    it consumed them, but they did not take it to heart.^(D)

¹¹ But I am full of the wrath^(A) of the Lord,
    and I cannot hold it in.^(B)

“Pour it out on the children in the street
    and on the young men^(C) gathered together;
both husband and wife will be caught in it,
    and the old, those weighed down with years.^(D)
12 Their houses will be turned over to others,^(E)
    together with their fields and their wives,^(F)
when I stretch out my hand^(G)
    against those who live in the land,”
declares the Lord.

³ In fierce anger he has cut off
    every horn^[a][b](A) of Israel.
He has withdrawn his right hand^(B)
    at the approach of the enemy.
He has burned in Jacob like a flaming fire
    that consumes everything around it.^(C)

⁴ Like an enemy he has strung his bow;^(D)
    his right hand is ready.
Like a foe he has slain
    all who were pleasing to the eye;^(E)
he has poured out his wrath^(F) like fire^(G)
    on the tent^(H) of Daughter Zion.

⁵ The Lord is like an enemy;^(I)
    he has swallowed up Israel.
He has swallowed up all her palaces
    and destroyed her strongholds.^(J)
He has multiplied mourning and lamentation^(K)
    for Daughter Judah.^(L)

¹¹ The Lord has given full vent to his wrath;^(A)
    he has poured out^(B) his fierce anger.^(C)
He kindled a fire^(D) in Zion
    that consumed her foundations.^(E)
