12 Then you will say on that day,
“^(A)I will give thanks to You, O Lord;
For ^(B)although You were angry with me,
Your anger is turned away,
And You comfort me.

40 “^(A)Comfort, O comfort My people,” says your God.
² “^(B)Speak ^[a]kindly to Jerusalem;
And call out to her, that her ^[b](C)warfare has ended,
That her ^[c](D)iniquity has been removed,
That she has received of the Lord’s hand
^(E)Double for all her sins.”

³ Indeed, ^(A)the Lord will comfort Zion;
He will comfort all her ^(B)waste places.
And her ^(C)wilderness He will make like ^(D)Eden,
And her desert like the ^(E)garden of the Lord;
^(F)Joy and gladness will be found in her,
Thanksgiving and sound of a melody.
