What will you do on the day of reckoning,(A)
    when disaster(B) comes from afar?
To whom will you run for help?(C)
    Where will you leave your riches?
Nothing will remain but to cringe among the captives(D)
    or fall among the slain.(E)

Yet for all this, his anger is not turned away,(F)
    his hand is still upraised.

“Woe(G) to the Assyrian,(H) the rod(I) of my anger,
    in whose hand is the club(J) of my wrath!(K)
I send him against a godless(L) nation,
    I dispatch(M) him against a people who anger me,(N)
to seize loot and snatch plunder,(O)
    and to trample(P) them down like mud in the streets.
