⁹ In all their affliction ^[a](A)He was afflicted,
And the ^(B)angel of His presence saved them;
In His ^(C)love and in His mercy He ^(D)redeemed them,
And He ^(E)lifted them and carried them all the days of old.

And grieved His ^(G)Holy Spirit;
Therefore He turned Himself to become their enemy,
He fought against them.
