¹⁶ Yet you are our Father,
even though Abraham does not know us
and Israel doesn’t recognize us.
You, Lord, are our Father;
your name is Our Redeemer^(A)
from Ancient Times.

⁸ Yet Lord, you are our Father;^(A)
we are the clay, and you are our potter;
we all are the work of your hands.^(B)

⁹ They will come weeping,
but I will bring them back with consolation.^[a](A)
I will lead them to wadis filled with water,
by a smooth way where they will not stumble,^(B)
for I am Israel’s Father,
and Ephraim is my firstborn.^(C)
