4 Because I know that (A)you are obstinate,
and your neck is an iron sinew
and your forehead brass,
5 (B)I declared them to you from of old,
before they came to pass I announced them to you,
lest you should say, (C)‘My idol did them,
my carved image and my metal image commanded them.’
6 “You have heard; now see all this;
and will you not declare it?
From this time forth (D)I announce to you new things,
hidden things that you have not known.

4 For I knew how stubborn(A) you were;
your neck muscles(B) were iron,
your forehead(C) was bronze.
5 Therefore I told you these things long ago;
before they happened I announced(D) them to you
so that you could not say,
‘My images brought them about;(E)
my wooden image and metal god ordained them.’
6 You have heard these things; look at them all.
Will you not admit them?
“From now on I will tell you of new things,(F)
of hidden things unknown to you.
