Isaiah 48:18-20

¹⁸Oh, that you had hearkened to My commandments! Then your peace and prosperity would have been like a flowing river, and your righteousness [the holiness and purity of the nation] like the [abundant] waves of the sea.

¹⁹Your offspring would have been like the sand, and your descendants like the offspring of the sea; their name would not be cut off or destroyed from before Me.^(A)

²⁰Go forth out of Babylon, flee from the Chaldeans! With a voice of singing declare, tell this, cause it to go forth even to the end of the earth; say, The Lord has redeemed His servant Jacob!

    your peace^(B) would have been like a river,^(C)
    your well-being^(D) like the waves of the sea.
¹⁹Your descendants^(E) would have been like the sand,^(F)
    your children like its numberless grains;^(G)
their name would never be blotted out^(H)
    nor destroyed from before me.”

²⁰Leave Babylon,
    flee^(I) from the Babylonians!
Announce this with shouts of joy^(J)
    and proclaim it.
Send it out to the ends of the earth;^(K)
    say, “The Lord has redeemed^(L) his servant Jacob.”
