Isaiah 47:7-9
English Standard Version Anglicised
7 You said, “I shall be (A)mistress for ever”,
so that you did not lay these things to heart
or remember their end.
8 Now therefore hear this, (B)you lover of pleasures,
(C)who sit securely,
who say in your heart,
(D)“I am, and there is no one besides me;
(E)I shall not sit as a widow
or know the loss of children”:
9 (F)These two things shall come to you
in a moment, (G)in one day;
the loss of children and widowhood
shall come upon you in full measure,
(H)in spite of your many sorceries
and the great power of your enchantments.
Isaiah 47:7-9

7 You said, ‘I am forever(A)—
the eternal queen!’(B)
But you did not consider these things

lounging in your security(E)
and saying to yourself,
‘I am, and there is none besides me.(F)
I will never be a widow(G)
or suffer the loss of children.’
9 Both of these will overtake you
in a moment,(H) on a single day:
loss of children(I) and widowhood.(J)
They will come upon you in full measure,
in spite of your many sorceries(K)
and all your potent spells.(L)
