Through a land of (C)distress and anguish,
From [b]where come lioness and lion, viper and (D)flying serpent,
They (E)carry their riches on the [c]backs of young donkeys
And their treasures on (F)camels’ humps,
To a people who cannot profit them;
Even Egypt, whose (G)help is vain and empty.
Therefore, I have called [d]her
[e](H)Rahab who has been exterminated.”
Now go, (I)write it on a tablet before them
And inscribe it on a scroll,
That it may [f]serve in the time to come
[g]As a witness forever.

the envoys carry their riches on donkeys’(F) backs,
    their treasures(G) on the humps of camels,
to that unprofitable nation,
    to Egypt, whose help is utterly useless.(H)
Therefore I call her
    Rahab(I) the Do-Nothing.

Go now, write it on a tablet(J) for them,
    inscribe it on a scroll,(K)
that for the days to come
    it may be an everlasting witness.(L)
