⁸ as when a hungry person dreams of eating,
    but awakens^(A) hungry still;
as when a thirsty person dreams of drinking,
    but awakens faint and thirsty still.^(B)
So will it be with the hordes of all the nations
    that fight against Mount Zion.^(C)

²⁴ They will say of me, ‘In the Lord alone
    are deliverance^(A) and strength.^(B)’”
All who have raged against him
    will come to him and be put to shame.^(C)

⁸ He who vindicates^(A) me is near.^(B)
    Who then will bring charges against me?^(C)
    Let us face each other!^(D)
Who is my accuser?
    Let him confront me!

⁹ It is the Sovereign Lord^(A) who helps^(B) me.
    Who will condemn^(C) me?
They will all wear out like a garment;
    the moths^(D) will eat them up.
