10 For the fortified city is (A)isolated,
A [a]haunt [b]forlorn and forsaken like the desert;
(B)There the calf will graze,
And there it will lie down and [c]feed on its twigs.
11 When its (C)limbs are dry, they are broken off;
Women come and light a fire with them,
For they are not a people of (D)discernment,
Therefore (E)their Maker (F)will not have compassion on them.
And their Creator will not be gracious to them.

12 And it will be in that day, that Yahweh (G)will start His threshing from the flowing stream of the [d](H)River to the brook of Egypt, and you will be (I)gathered up one by one, O sons of Israel.

    they strip its branches bare.

    so their Maker has no compassion on them,
    and their Creator(H) shows them no favor.(I)

12 In that day the Lord will thresh(J) from the flowing Euphrates to the Wadi of Egypt,(K) and you, Israel, will be gathered(L) up one by one.
