Isaiah 26:15-17
New Life Version

15 You have made the nation great, O Lord. You have made the nation great. You have received much praise. You have made the land larger. 16 O Lord, they looked for You in their trouble. They could only say a quiet prayer while You were punishing them. 17 As the woman who is going to have a baby comes close to the time to give birth, she suffers and cries out in her pains. This is how we were before You, O Lord.

New International Version

15 You have enlarged the nation, Lord;
    you have enlarged the nation.(A)
You have gained glory for yourself;
    you have extended all the borders(B) of the land.

16 Lord, they came to you in their distress;(C)
    when you disciplined(D) them,
    they could barely whisper(E) a prayer.[a]
17 As a pregnant woman about to give birth(F)
    writhes and cries out in her pain,
    so were we in your presence, Lord.
