15 (A)You have increased the nation, O Lord,
You have increased the nation, You are glorified;
You have (B)extended all the borders of the land.
16 O Lord, they sought You (C)in distress;
They [a]could only whisper a prayer,
Your chastening was upon them.
17 (D)As the pregnant woman approaches the time to give birth,
She writhes and cries out in her labor pains,
Thus were we before You, O Lord.

You have gained glory for yourself;
    you have extended all the borders(B) of the land.

16 Lord, they came to you in their distress;(C)
    when you disciplined(D) them,
    they could barely whisper(E) a prayer.[a]
17 As a pregnant woman about to give birth(F)
    writhes and cries out in her pain,
    so were we in your presence, Lord.
