¹² On that day the Lord,
    the Lord of hosts,
called on you to eat and mourn,
    to shave your head and put on sackcloth.
¹³ But instead you indulged in joy and merriment,
    the killing of oxen and the slaughtering of sheep,
    the eating of meat and the drinking of wine,
saying, “Let us eat and drink,
    for tomorrow we die.”

This wickedness will not be forgiven you
    until you die,
    says the Lord God of hosts.
