2 I will provoke Egypt against Egypt;
each will fight against his brother(A)
and each against his friend,
city against city, kingdom against kingdom.(B)
3 Egypt’s spirit will be disturbed within it,
and I will frustrate its plans.
Then they will seek idols, ghosts,
spirits of the dead, and spiritists.(C)
4 I will deliver Egypt into the hands of harsh masters,(D)
and a strong king will rule it.
This is the declaration of the Lord God of Hosts.

2 “I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian—
brother will fight against brother,(A)
neighbor against neighbor,
city against city,
kingdom against kingdom.(B)
3 The Egyptians will lose heart,(C)
and I will bring their plans(D) to nothing;(E)
they will consult the idols and the spirits of the dead,
the mediums and the spiritists.(F)
4 I will hand the Egyptians over
to the power of a cruel master,
and a fierce king(G) will rule over them,”
declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.
