Hosea 9:6-8
Christian Standard Bible
6 For even if they flee from devastation,
Egypt will gather them, and Memphis will bury them.(A)
Thistles will take possession of their precious silver;
thorns will invade their tents.(B)
7 The days of punishment have come;(C)
the days of retribution have come.(D)
Let Israel recognize it!
The prophet is a fool,(E)
and the inspired man is insane,(F)
because of the magnitude
of your iniquity and hostility.(G)
8 Ephraim’s watchman is with my God.
Yet the prophet encounters a bird trap
on all his pathways.(H)
Hostility is in the house of his God!
Hosea 9:6-8
New International Version
6 Even if they escape from destruction,
Egypt will gather them,(A)
and Memphis(B) will bury them.(C)
Their treasures of silver(D) will be taken over by briers,
and thorns(E) will overrun their tents.
7 The days of punishment(F) are coming,
the days of reckoning(G) are at hand.
Let Israel know this.
Because your sins(H) are so many
and your hostility so great,
the prophet is considered a fool,(I)
the inspired person a maniac.(J)
8 The prophet, along with my God,
is the watchman over Ephraim,[a]
yet snares(K) await him on all his paths,
and hostility in the house of his God.(L)
