Hosea 8:7-9

7 For they have [a]sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall bring forth no meal: if so be it brought forth, the strangers shall devour it.
8 Israel is devoured, now shall they be among the Gentiles as a vessel wherein is no pleasure.
9 For they are gone up to Assyria: they are as a [b]wild ass alone by himself: Ephraim hath hired lovers.

7 “They sow the wind
and reap the whirlwind.(A)
The stalk has no head;
it will produce no flour.(B)
Were it to yield grain,
foreigners would swallow it up.(C)
8 Israel is swallowed up;(D)
now she is among the nations
like something no one wants.(E)
9 For they have gone up to Assyria(F)
like a wild donkey(G) wandering alone.
Ephraim has sold herself to lovers.(H)
