8 (A)Gilead is a city of workers of iniquity,
With a track of (B)blood.
9 And as (C)raiders wait for a man,
So a band of priests (D)murder on the way to Shechem;
Surely they have committed (E)lewdness.
10 In the house of Israel I have seen an (F)appalling thing;
Ephraim’s (G)harlotry is there; Israel has defiled itself.

8 Gilead is a city of evildoers,(A)
stained with footprints of blood.
9 As marauders lie in ambush for a victim,(B)
so do bands of priests;
they murder(C) on the road to Shechem,
carrying out their wicked schemes.(D)
10 I have seen a horrible(E) thing in Israel:
There Ephraim is given to prostitution,
Israel is defiled.(F)
