Hebrews 9:14-16
Contemporary English Version
14 But Christ was sinless, and he offered himself as an eternal and spiritual sacrifice to God. This is why his blood is much more powerful and makes our[a] consciences clear. Now we can serve the living God and no longer do things that lead to death.
15 Christ died to rescue those who had sinned and broken the old agreement. Now he brings his chosen ones a new agreement with its guarantee of God's eternal blessings! 16 In fact, making an agreement of this kind is like writing a will. This is because the one who makes the will must die before it is of any use.

14 How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit(A) offered himself(B) unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences(C) from acts that lead to death,[a](D) so that we may serve the living God!(E)
15 For this reason Christ is the mediator(F) of a new covenant,(G) that those who are called(H) may receive the promised(I) eternal inheritance(J)—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.(K)
16 In the case of a will,[b] it is necessary to prove the death of the one who made it,
