However, Jesus[a] has now obtained a more superior ministry, since the covenant he mediates is founded on better promises.

The New Covenant is Better than the Old

If the first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need to look for a second one, but God[b] found something wrong with his people[c] when he said,

“Look! The days are coming, declares the Lord,[d]
    when I will establish a new covenant
        with the house of Israel
        and with the house of Judah.

But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant(A) of which he is mediator(B) is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.

For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.(C) But God found fault with the people and said[a]:
