God’s Promise Is Sure
13 For God made a promise to Abraham, and since God had no one greater to swear by, “He swore by himself.”[a] 14 He said, “I will most certainly bless you and make you increase in number.”[b]

The Certainty of God’s Promise
13 When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself,(D) 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.”[a](E)
