(A) Don't fall in love with money. Be satisfied with what you have. The Lord has promised that he will not leave us or desert us. (B) This should make you feel like saying,

“The Lord helps me!
Why should I be afraid
    of what people
    can do to me?”

Don't forget about your leaders who taught you God's message. Remember what kind of lives they lived and try to have faith like theirs.

Keep your lives free from the love of money(A) and be content with what you have,(B) because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
    never will I forsake you.”[a](C)

So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me?”[b](D)

Remember your leaders,(E) who spoke the word of God(F) to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate(G) their faith.
