Hebrews 11:3-5

Good News Translation

³^(A)It is by faith that we understand that the universe was created by God's word, so that what can be seen was made out of what cannot be seen.

⁴^(B)It was faith that made Abel offer to God a better sacrifice than Cain's. Through his faith he won God's approval as a righteous man, because God himself approved of his gifts. By means of his faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

⁵^(C)It was faith that kept Enoch from dying. Instead, he was taken up to God, and nobody could find him, because God had taken him up. The scripture says that before Enoch was taken up, he had pleased God.

Hebrews 11:3-5

New International Version

³By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command,^(A) so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

⁴By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended^(B) as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings.^(C) And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.^(D)

⁵By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”^[a]^(E) For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God.
