⁶ “A son ^(A)honors his father,
And a servant his master.
^(B)If then I am the Father,
Where is My honor?
And if I am a Master,
Where is My reverence?
Says the Lord of hosts
To you priests who despise My name.
^(C)Yet you say, ‘In what way have we despised Your name?’

⁵ And I will come near you for judgment;
I will be a swift witness
Against sorcerers,
Against adulterers,
^(A)Against perjurers,
Against those who ^(B)exploit wage earners and ^(C)widows and orphans,
And against those who turn away an alien—
Because they do not fear Me,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

¹⁶ Then those ^(A)who feared the Lord ^(B)spoke to one another,
And the Lord listened and heard them;
So ^(C)a book of remembrance was written before Him
For those who fear the Lord
And who ^[a]meditate on His name.
