Haggai 2:11-13

New King James Version

¹¹“Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Now, ^(A)ask the priests concerning the law, saying, ¹²“If one carries holy meat in the fold of his garment, and with the edge he touches bread or stew, wine or oil, or any food, will it become holy?” ’ ”

Then the priests answered and said, “No.”

¹³And Haggai said, “If one who is ^(B)unclean because of a dead body touches any of these, will it be unclean?”

So the priests answered and said, “It shall be unclean.”

¹¹“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘Ask the priests^(A) what the law says: ¹²If someone carries consecrated meat^(B) in the fold of their garment, and that fold touches some bread or stew, some wine, olive oil or other food, does it become consecrated?^(C)’”

The priests answered, “No.”

¹³Then Haggai said, “If a person defiled by contact with a dead body touches one of these things, does it become defiled?”

“Yes,” the priests replied, “it becomes defiled.^(D)”
