Go up to the mountain, bring timber, and build the house: and it shall be acceptable to me, and I shall be glorified, saith the Lord.

You have looked for more, and behold it became less, and you brought it home, and I blowed it away: why, saith the Lord of hosts? because my house is desolate, and you make haste every man to his own house.

This is what the Lord Almighty says: “Give careful thought(A) to your ways. Go up into the mountains and bring down timber(B) and build my house, so that I may take pleasure(C) in it and be honored,(D)” says the Lord. “You expected much, but see, it turned out to be little.(E) What you brought home, I blew(F) away. Why?” declares the Lord Almighty. “Because of my house, which remains a ruin,(G) while each of you is busy with your own house.
