⁸ Now it came to pass in the morning ^(A)that his spirit was troubled, and he sent and called for all ^(B)the magicians of Egypt and all its ^(C)wise men. And Pharaoh told them his dreams, but there was no one who could interpret them for Pharaoh.

¹¹ But Pharaoh also ^(A)called the wise men and ^(B)the ^[a]sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also ^(C)did in like manner with their ^[b]enchantments.

^20 (A)And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.

¹⁰ The Chaldeans answered the king, and said, “There is not a man on earth who can tell the king’s matter; therefore no king, lord, or ruler has ever asked such things of any magician, astrologer, or Chaldean.

²⁷ Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, “The secret which the king has demanded, the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, and the soothsayers cannot declare to the king.

^7 (A)The king cried ^[a]aloud to bring in ^(B)the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke, saying to the wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing, and tells me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around his neck; ^(C)and he shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”
