¹³ But Cain answered the Lord, “My punishment^[a] is too great to bear!

²¹ Aaron will lay both his hands on the head of the live goat and confess^(A) over it all the Israelites’ wrongdoings^(B) and rebellious acts—all their sins.^(C) He is to put them on the goat’s head and send it away into the wilderness^(D) by the man appointed for the task.^{[a] 22} The goat will carry on it all their wrongdoings into a desolate land,^(E) and he will release it there.

¹⁵ then the man is to bring his wife to the priest. He is also to bring an offering for her of two quarts^[a] of barley flour. He is not to pour oil over it or put frankincense on it because it is a grain offering of jealousy, a grain offering for remembrance that brings sin to mind.

³¹ The husband will be free of guilt, but that woman will bear the consequences of her guilt.”
