⁸ The Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east,^(A) and there he placed the man he had formed. ⁹ The Lord God caused to grow out of the ground every tree pleasing in appearance and good for food, including the tree of life in the middle of the garden,^(B) as well as the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.^(C)

⁴³ And he said to him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”^(A)

⁴ was caught up into paradise^(A) and heard inexpressible words, which a human being is not allowed to speak.

² down the middle of the city’s main street. The tree of life was on each side of the river, bearing twelve kinds of fruit, producing its fruit every month.^(A) The leaves of the tree are for healing the nations,^(B)

¹⁴ “Blessed ^(A) are those who wash their robes,^[a] so that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter the city by the gates.

¹⁹ And if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share of the tree of life and the holy city, which are written about in this book.^(A)
