Genesis 50:3-5
New English Translation
3 They took forty days, for that is the full time needed for embalming.[a] The Egyptians mourned for[b] him seventy days.[c]
4 When the days of mourning[d] had passed, Joseph said to Pharaoh’s royal court,[e] “If I have found favor in your sight, please say to Pharaoh,[f] 5 ‘My father made me swear an oath. He said,[g] “I am about to die. Bury me[h] in my tomb that I dug for myself there in the land of Canaan.” Now let me go and bury my father; then I will return.’”

New International Version
3 taking a full forty days, for that was the time required for embalming. And the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.(A)

Tell him, 5 ‘My father made me swear an oath(E) and said, “I am about to die;(F) bury me in the tomb I dug for myself(G) in the land of Canaan.”(H) Now let me go up and bury my father;(I) then I will return.’”
