6 Then Yahweh said to Cain, “(A)Why are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? 7 (B)If you do well, [a]will not your countenance be lifted up? (C)And if you do not do well, sin is lying at the door; and its desire is for you, (D)but you must rule over it.” 8 Then Cain [b]spoke to Abel his brother; and it happened when they were in the field, that Cain rose up against Abel his brother and (E)killed him.

6 Then the Lord said to Cain, “Why are you angry?(A) Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door;(B) it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.(C)”
8 Now Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.”[a] While they were in the field, Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him.(D)
