15 And the Lord said to him, [a]“Therefore, whoever kills Cain, vengeance shall be taken on him (A)sevenfold.” And the Lord set a (B)mark on Cain, lest anyone finding him should kill him.

16 Then Cain (C)went out from the (D)presence of the Lord and dwelt in the land of [b]Nod on the east of Eden. 17 And Cain knew his wife, and she conceived and bore Enoch. And he built a city, (E)and called the name of the city after the name of his son—Enoch.

15 But the Lord said to him, “Not so[a]; anyone who kills Cain(A) will suffer vengeance(B) seven times over.(C)” Then the Lord put a mark on Cain so that no one who found him would kill him. 16 So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence(D) and lived in the land of Nod,[b] east of Eden.(E)
17 Cain made love to his wife,(F) and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city,(G) and he named it after his son(H) Enoch.
