Good News Translation
35 All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted and said, “I will go down to the world of the dead still mourning for my son.” So he continued to mourn for his son Joseph.
36 Meanwhile, in Egypt the Midianites had sold Joseph to Potiphar, one of the king's officers, who was the captain of the palace guard.

New International Version
35 All his sons and daughters came to comfort him,(A) but he refused to be comforted.(B) “No,” he said, “I will continue to mourn until I join my son(C) in the grave.(D)” So his father wept for him.
36 Meanwhile, the Midianites[a](E) sold Joseph(F) in Egypt to Potiphar, one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard.(G)
