9 God appeared to Jacob again when he came from Paddan-aram, and he blessed him. 10 God said to him, ‘Your name is Jacob; no longer shall you be called Jacob, but Israel shall be your name.’ So he was called Israel. 11 God said to him, ‘I am God Almighty:[a] be fruitful and multiply; a nation and a company of nations shall come from you, and kings shall spring from you.

9 After Jacob returned from Paddan Aram,[a](A) God appeared to him again and blessed him.(B) 10 God said to him, “Your name is Jacob,[b] but you will no longer be called Jacob; your name will be Israel.[c]”(C) So he named him Israel.
11 And God said to him, “I am God Almighty[d];(D) be fruitful and increase in number.(E) A nation(F) and a community of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.(G)
