40 By day I was burnt by the sun and by night I suffered from the cold, and I spent many sleepless nights. 41 Twenty years I was with you. I served you fourteen years for your two daughters and six years for your flocks, and you changed my salary ten times. 42 If the God of my father, the God of Abraham, and the Terror of Isaac, had not been with me, you would have sent me away with nothing. But God saw my affliction and the work of my hands, and last night he was my judge.”

40 This was my situation: The heat consumed me in the daytime and the cold at night, and sleep fled from my eyes.(A) 41 It was like this for the twenty years(B) I was in your household. I worked for you fourteen years for your two daughters(C) and six years for your flocks,(D) and you changed my wages(E) ten times.(F) 42 If the God of my father,(G) the God of Abraham(H) and the Fear of Isaac,(I) had not been with me,(J) you would surely have sent me away empty-handed. But God has seen my hardship and the toil of my hands,(K) and last night he rebuked you.(L)”
