Genesis 30:39-41
New Life Version
39 So the flocks mated in front of the sticks. And the young that were born had spots. 40 Then Jacob divided the lambs. He made the flocks look toward Laban’s flock of the animals which were black or with spots. And he put his own flocks by themselves. He did not put them with Laban’s flock. 41 When the stronger animals of the flock were mating, Jacob would put the sticks in the water in front of the flock so they would mate by the sticks.

39 they mated in front of the branches.(A) And they bore young that were streaked or speckled or spotted.(B) 40 Jacob set apart the young of the flock by themselves, but made the rest face the streaked and dark-colored animals(C) that belonged to Laban. Thus he made separate flocks for himself and did not put them with Laban’s animals. 41 Whenever the stronger females were in heat,(D) Jacob would place the branches in the troughs in front of the animals so they would mate near the branches,(E)
